Effects of Inclusive Leadership on Quality of Care: The Mediating Role of Psychological Safety Climate and Perceived Workgroup Inclusion
Purpose: The aim of the study is to investigate the multilevel effects of the inclusiveness of workgroup leaders on quality of care by intervening through a “psychological safety climate” at the group level and “perceived workgroup inclusion” at the individual level within professionally diverse workgroups of healthcare professionals. Material and Methods: Data are collected from 305 healthcare professionals nested in 61 workgroups and 305 patients treated by the same workgroups working in public-sector hospitals in Pakistan. Hypothesized relationships are tested through multilevel analyses using Mplus 7. Results: The results of the study show that inclusive leadership can enhance the quality of care delivered by multiprofessional workgroups of healthcare professionals through perceived workgroup inclusion. Further, the psychological safety climate does not mediate the relationship between inclusive leadership and quality of care individually, but it transmits the effects of inclusive leadership through perceived workgroup inclusion on quality of care. Conclusion: The results of the study suggest that the inclusiveness of workgroup leaders, the psychological safety climate, and perceived workgroup inclusion can create safe and inclusive interpersonal mechanisms that play a key role in transmitting the positive effects of inclusive leadership on quality of care.
Cognitive Appraisal of Job Autonomy by Nurses: A Cross-Sectional Study
Introduction Job autonomy (JA), a task-level job resource has the potential to motivate individual behavior; it is indecisive, however, whether JA promotes or hinders extra-role behavior. Objective The study aims to examine the effect of JA on innovative work behavior (IWB) directly and indirectly through cognitive appraisal and work engagement (WE) while considering the organization type and age as control variables. Methods Self-administered questionnaires were used to collect the data from 326 nurses. SPSS and Amos 21 software was used to analyze the data. Data was collected between September, 2021 to January, 2022. Results According to the findings, JA can both stimulate and impede IWB indirectly through cognitive appraisal and WE depending on how it is appraised as a challenge and a threat (ρ = .089, p <.001); (ρ = −.038, p <.001), respectively. Conclusion The current study revealed that JA significantly influences the IWB of nurses directly and indirectly through cognitive appraisal and WE. Therefore, nursing management should find ways to influence nurse's appraisal of JA as a challenge rather than a threat to improve their extra-role behavior.
Cultivating Innovative Work Behavior of Nurses Through Diversity Climate: The Mediating Role of Job Crafting
Introduction Innovative work behavior of nurses is essential to deliver affordable quality healthcare services. Diversity climate and job crafting are a few of the supportive managerial strategies that can be applied to cultivate the innovative capacity of nurses. Objective Aim for the current study is to: (a) examine the role of diversity climate in cultivating innovative work behavior of nurses directly; and (b) indirectly through job crafting. Methods For this study data was collected through cross-sectional design employing simple random sampling using structured questionnaires from 283 nurses. Data was analyzed using SPSS.Amos.21. Results Results revealed the positive influence of diversity climate on innovative work behavior directly (γ = 0.51, p < .001) and indirectly through job crafting (ρ = 0.235, p < .001). Conclusion The current study revealed that diversity climate significantly influences the innovative work behavior of employees directly and indirectly through Job crafting. Healthcare management can integrate diversity management policies and job crafting techniques in their strategies to foster innovative work behavior of nurses.
Determining the Entrepreneurial Intentions of Youth/ Generation Z: A Study of Youth Intent towards Entrepreneurship
The present study is an attempt to explore and analyze the entrepreneurial intentions of Gen-Z. Since technological advancement and emergence of new business model has enabled individuals to be their own boss. Youth are considered backbone of a country and play a vigorous role in the development of a country. Unlike other countries, Pakistani youth comprises more than half of the country's population. Therefore, current study intended to determine the effect of particular entrepreneurial traits on behavioral intention of youth or Generation Z of Pakistan towards entrepreneurship. To achieve these objectives, positivism research paradigm with deductive reasoning were applied. For the purpose of data collection self-administered questionnaires were distributed by using Non-probabilistic sampling technique. Initially 400 questionnaires were distributed among University Students and after careful scrutiny only 300 were considered as a sample of the study. Several statistical tests were applied by using SPSS and SmartPLS. Results revealed that attitude and perceived behavioral control are significantly associated with entrepreneurial intentions of youth while social norms exhibit insignificant impact. However self-efficacy reveals a significant mediating effect on relationship between entrepreneurial opportunity and entrepreneurial intentions. Further, theoretical, and practical implications are presented to understand the relationship.
Synthesis, characterization, anti-ulcer action and molecular docking evaluation of novel benzimidazole-pyrazole hybrids
A series of six novel benzimidazole-pyrazole hybrid molecules was synthesized and characterized using elemental analysis (CHN) and spectroscopic methods (1HNMR, FT-IR). All the synthesized compounds were evaluated for their in vivo anti ulcerogenic activity using Albino rats (weighing 180–220 g). The interactions between the compounds and active site residues of H+/K+ ATPase were investigated by molecular docking studies using autodock vina 4.0. SCH28080 was used to validate the docking results. Also the drug likeliness of these compounds was predicted using Molinspiration server in light of Lipinski’s rule of five. All the six synthesized compounds exhibited higher anti-ulcer activity as compared to omeprazole. These novel hybrid compounds showed comparable anti-ulcer potential of 72–83% at dose level of 500 µg/kg, whereas omeprazole showed 83% anti-ulcer activity at dose level of 30 mg/kg. The results clearly indicate that these novel benzimidazole-pyrazole hybrids can present a new class of potential anti ulcer agents and can serve as new anti-ulcer drugs after further investigation.[Figure not available: see fulltext.]
